1. Service description
VigilSAR is a Synthetic Aperture Radar analysis platform that aggregates publicly available Earth-observation data, applies computer-vision models, and presents the results through a web interface and API. Some features depend on third-party upstreams (Copernicus, NASA Earthdata, ICEYE, OpenStreetMap, etc.); their availability is not guaranteed by us.
2. Accounts
Certain features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
3. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use VigilSAR to violate any law, including export controls, sanctions, and privacy laws.
- Harass, surveil, or stalk individuals. VigilSAR is designed for area-level monitoring (ports, airbases, infrastructure); Sentinel-1 cannot identify individuals and must not be used to attempt it.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the platform or its upstream data providers.
- Resell raw imagery from providers whose own license terms prohibit resale.
- Circumvent authentication, security controls, or rate limits.
4. Data licensing
Imagery and derived data are subject to the license of the originating provider. Selected notices:
- Copernicus Sentinel-1 — free and open under the Copernicus Data Use license. Attribute "Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data [year]" in derivative works.
- NASA Earthdata, ASF DAAC — free public use, NASA attribution requested.
- ICEYE Open Data — Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).
- OpenStreetMap — Open Database License (ODbL), © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- OpenTopoMap, CARTO basemaps — respective terms per provider.
You agree to preserve attribution when redistributing derivative products.
5. Intellectual property
The VigilSAR software, user interface, branding, and documentation are the property of Thorsten Meyer AI and its licensors. No license to use trademarks is granted by these Terms. Open-source components used by VigilSAR are governed by their respective licenses.
6. No warranty
VigilSAR is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantee that detections are complete, accurate, or free of false positives. SAR imagery is subject to speckle noise, layover, and shadow effects that can produce misleading output. Do not base life-safety or irreversible operational decisions on VigilSAR output without independent verification.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thorsten Meyer AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business opportunities arising from the use of VigilSAR. Total liability for direct damages is limited to the amount paid by you for the service in the twelve months preceding the event.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these terms. You may stop using VigilSAR at any time and request account deletion by emailing hello@vigilsar.com.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Exclusive jurisdiction lies with the courts at the registered seat of the operator, to the extent permitted by law. Consumer rights under mandatory law remain unaffected.
